Your bathroom’s damp, warm environment is perfect for harbouring germs, but disinfecting it doesn’t have to be a chore – a deep clean is possible with the most basic of products…
Here’s a quick guide to deep cleaning your bathroom using only MAQ Multipurpose Cream Cleaner, MAQ Multipurpose Thick Bleach, and MAQ Dishwashing Liquid.
Before you start Before deep cleaning, de-clutter your bathroom. Throw out expired medication, old make-up (no, you won’t use that crusty mascara again), those beauty products you never use, and that yucky old toilet brush. Once you’re done, grab your MAQ cleaning products, cloths, gloves, and some warm water.

Bath and basin Use the MAQ Multipurpose Cream Cleaner for the bath, basin and shower. For stubborn grime, you can use it neat with a cloth or sponge, otherwise a squirt or two in a basin of warm water will definitely do the trick. To clean grouting or get rid of mould, use MAQ Multipurpose Thick Bleach neat on the stains. Scrub with an old toothbrush if necessary. You can also use the bleach (diluted one tablespoon to two litres of water) to disinfect taps and door handles. This bleach kills germs for up to 24 hours, leaving you with peace of mind that your bathroom is thoroughly clean.
Toilet Pay special attention to keeping the toilet and the area surrounding it clean and disinfected. Use MAQ Multipurpose Thick Bleach neat inside the toilet, making sure that you get some of the bleach under the toilet rim as well. Again make a dilution of one tablespoon MAQ Multipurpose Thick Bleach to two litres of water and use a cloth or sponge (the one you keep exclusively to clean the loo) to clean the rest of the toilet. Leave the bleach in the toilet for an hour or two before cleaning (or ideally overnight); scrub the inside of the toilet with a toilet brush before flushing.
The floor The floor around the toilet can also harbour germs and should be washed with a dilution of bleach to disinfect the floor tiles. You can, again, use MAQ Multipurpose Thick Bleach neat to clean the grouting between the tiles, plus, you can use it to get rid of any mildew that has formed in the hidden corners of the bathroom.
Mildew and soap scum To remove mildew from the shower or edge of the bath, simply use MAQ Multipurpose Thick Bleach undiluted and scrub lightly with an old toothbrush. Soap scum is easy to remove with MAQ Multipurpose Cream Cleaner. Finally, clean the mirrors, glass shower cubicles and windows with some MAQ Dishwashing Liquid diluted in warm water. Dry with a lint-free cloth or crumpled newspaper.
