Inside each cap, we added a night light bulb, with a wire running behind the landscaping and out a hole cut in the back of the globe. We even finished each ball with a non-working Christmas tree hanger ring’ at the top. For the balls to sit on, every one of them was given a flat bottom cup’ made from poster board.
A lovely winter day for a stroll. We then constructed false floors from foam board, using techniques common to other projects. For the individual scenes to be completed inside the balls, our project members were to choose a large picture, which could be dimensionalised’ inside a sphere.
To get that dimension, three copies were made of each scene, and then the copies were cut into pieces, each one shaped appropriately to form part of a separate background, mid-ground, and foreground at the back of the sphere.
In the case of my own bridge scene, a creek was built inside by forming the creek bed and bank first, then pouring in two-part resin for the creek’s water’.
I then built a bridge over my creek, with wintery landscaping and a roadway filled in afterward.
