What was your approach to color in the home collection?
Rowley: I like the idea of using tonal mixes â” a deep Midnight Blue sofa with a Peacock Blue credenza and a pale blue-gray wall color.
I also like using metallics as a pop of color â” brass or gold leaf against a yellow wall. We infused color in places you might not expect to create moments of surprise and delight [in the collection for Hooker Furniture]. A piece might appear to be neutral, but when you open a drawer, you’ll find a pretty Baby Blue interior, or underneath a tabletop, a pop of bright pink. We’re a brand known for our color sense. And just like with ready-to-wear, it’s always better to mix than to match. Whether it’s a bold stripe or a pretty print, never be mundane!
Charting a course for the year ahead? Consider these key themes.
The incoming Bohemian mood has captured the imagination of product designers, stylists, merchandisers and interior designers, especially the ones who want to woo Millennials and earn their dollars and endorsements.
