New York’s oldest restaurant, founded in 1825, Delmonico’s has had seven different locations over the years. After its original building on this site was destroyed by fire, it was replaced by this one, as a hotel and restaurant for men only. The hotel now houses condominium apartments and the restaurant is open to all. The marble pillars at the entrance, said to have been excavated at Pompeii, also graced.
