To illustrate the simplicity of this technique, the following instructions explain how to decorate the table on the previous page, although the same basic rules can be applied to a variety of items, as shown here. TO DECORATE THE TABLE Choose a suitable round wooden table with a flat edge. Select your fabric, cut to size and hem the raw edges. DINING FOR MILES UNITED We used organza as it has a lovely translucent quality. Other fine silks, cottons or chintzes would work equally well, although the fabric should not be too thick. Pin the fabric in place around the edge of the table top with drawing pins, keeping it taut and flat. Gently hammer the nails in, removing the pins as you go. Finally, have a piece of thick glass cut to size to protect the fabric on the table top. To decorate the other items shown on these pages, please refer to the captions.
