Home Decorating Quilts
The following are some last-minute decorating ideas that are truly quick and easy and require absolutely no brain power, talent, or energy.
For a festive table: Stamp a design of a gold leaf pattern over a white linen tablecloth.
With a gold pen, draw swirls of patterns on glass balls and pile them into a glass bowl for a centerpiece. I piled my gold, bronze, and silver balls into a large pewter ashtray. A few sprigs of greens or golden strand of garlands wound here and there make a nice table decoration.
Wrap plants, make bows for the backs of chairs, tie back curtains with ribbon. It will dress up anything instantly.
Fill large glass bowls with potpourri and set votive candles in the centers. When the candle warms the inside of the bowl the scent of the potpourri is released.
Surround a tabletop’ tree with gorgeous packages wrapped with simple materials such as Kraft paper, jute, or gold mesh. I love cellophane for wrapping around colored tissue paper. Gather the ends and squinch together a few inches from the top, then tie with a pretty organdy ribbon.
Simple quilted wall hangings can be used for table covers and later as winter throws. There are many that are quite inexpensive.
No time to shop? Make a centerpiece or mantel decoration by filling a lovely bowl with green moss topped with bright golden pears. Tie an elegant bow around the bowl. If you don’t have moss, use gold tissue paper.
For an instant holiday lift to your sofa or chairs, wrap your throw pillows with fat satin ribbons, just like a package.
Combine large red and gold tree ornaments with red and green apples in a bowl.
