For the discerning lover of everything art and gardening, this is for you. Bonsai is the Japanese art of growing miniature trees and bushes by rigorously wiring and pruning roots and branches. Buds are also pinched, Minimal amounts of fertilizer and organic matter are applied in order to restrict the plant’s growth. Note that the very fact that the tree is grown in a small container will naturally limit its growth considerably. The word bonsai has its origins in the Japanese language and loosely translated, means, ‘planted in a container’.
