Situated in the historically significant Balgownie Estate Vineyard in Maiden Gully, just outside Bendigo, Balgownie House overlooks 33 hectares of vineyards. It is most welcoming as you travel up its tree-lined driveway which is the shared entrance to Balgownie Estate’s Cellar Door. The restored miner’s cottage offers two private apartments with quintessential^ Australian verandahs beckoning you to just sit and gaze over Balgownie’s 40-year-old vines that produce some of the region’s best Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay.
Watch the sun set and soak up the ambient cottage surrounds as the colours of the rolling gardens and vines change from rich green and yellow to deep blue. These are the spectacular sights of Balgownie Estate.
You can relax and enjoy breakfast on the verandah, curl up with a good book on the couch, have a spa or maybe sleep all day (like the kangaroos), wander down to the cellar door to experience one of the famous reds or distinctive whites, â˜tingle’ your taste buds with a regionally inspired lunch in the Cellar Door Cafe.
