Before anyone pointed out that they had spelled millennium wrong, apparently, all the letterheads and brochures had been printed, and the builders of this 58-story hotel decided to let the mistake go. The 561-room property more than made up for it in its standards of luxury and service, and its location across from the World Trade Center made it a sell-out from the beginning. The collapse of the Twin Towers resulted in a lot of broken glass in its sleek fa§ade and a good deal of smoke damage, but the Millenium is still standing, still sound, and plans to reopen.
