overly decorated or forced. We tried to bring in eclectic vintage pieces, right down to the barware.
Luckily, the owners, who’d worked with the designers before, were happy to put their trust in the duo. We like to try new things and feel we can take chances, so we really pushed Ashley and Courtney to do what they do best, says Kim. We discussed colour palette and furniture selections, but gave them creative licence from there.
With a few exceptions, an all-white interior envelope provides a clean backdrop for natural rugs, gauzy curtains, linen upholstery and artwork ranging from photography to sketches. The effect is fresh, but most of all, welcoming. Yes, it’s very white but it doesn’t feel that way with all that green from the golf course around us, says Kim. We made sure to choose warm whites that were people- and dog-friendly. We have a yellow lab who basically owns the house.
The dream now a reality, the Francos enjoy spending time poolside or entertaining in the open-concept kitchen and family room upstairs. That area is the centre of the house, says Kim. We get to enjoy the views all day, every day. I1SI
