Remove Excess of Paint in Quirks of Mouldings
As each coating is completed, the work should be inspected, and if, as sometimes happens, there is an excess of paint in the quirks of the moulding this should be picked out with the smallest of the brushes. If this is not done, the paint at this point may run down the lower part of the work in ugly streaks. Even if it does not run, it will wrinkle, and that is almost as unsightly.
The final coat of paint having hardened, it is ready for the final coat of varnish or enamel. That having been successfully applied, the work is complete.
What we have been describing is ordinary three-coat paint and one-coat varnish work.
