The Midas touch According to Greek mythology, King Midas enjoyed the remarkable talent of turning everything he touched into gold. This legend is now brought to life in a spectacular exhibition dedicated to the opulence of gold used to decorate ceramics from Royal Crown Derby, Minton and Royal Doulton. Exhibits will illustrate a variety of decorative processes used in the application of gold: raised paste; acid gold; gilding; and the use of gold leaf for backgrounds. The exhibition runs at the new Royal Doulton ceramic gallery at 167 Piccadilly, London Wl, until June. Show Auricula by Jose Escofet, one of twelve 13″ x 17″ prints comprising a limited edition collection, from Stephanie Hoppen.
