Variety of Treatment
On interior woodwork an immense variety of treatments is possible. Surfaces may be finished dull, quite glossy, or with half-gloss. Colour and design may range from the severely plain to the most elaborate patterning or variegated colour effects, and we may adopt varnish, enamel or the newer cellulose preparations for obtaining the kind of finish we require.
Choice of Colour
The choice of colour will, however, always be conditioned by the surrounding and by individual choice. It would be impossible for us to suggest here definite colours for the woodwork, unless we knew what was to be the general scheme of wall coverings, furnishings and hangings in the apartment under treatment.
First Make the Room Ready
The work will be facilitated if the room is empty of furniture, Where this is not practicable, it is best to remove the lighter articles, and to move the larger pieces, including perhaps the folded carpet, into the middle of the room, and cover them with dust sheets.
If there is a loose felt or linoleum surround, this should be removed, not only for its own protection, but to enable.
