Apart from prewar, the most common pitch in classified ads for apartments is walk to work, which first appeared in print for the 3,000 apartments in this twelve-building complex. One thing the ads didn’t mention was that in the 1920s this neighborhood was mainly tenements and slaughterhouses, which is why these buildings face inward and there are almost no river views.
